My name is Karma Lakey and I am 26 years old.

After completing my class 10 from Darla Middle Secondary School, I could not qualify for government schools.

I did not want to bother my parents with going for further studies in Private Schools as I saw a lot of graduates from different colleges and institutions remaining unemployed even with their degree certificates. So, I did not search any private schools for admission but rather opted for training in hair and beauty salon at Thimphu.

I was very enthusiastic in such business to start up. I went through 6 months training and got equipped with the skills to undertaken hair and beauty saloon business.

At first, It was not so easy to start a business as I had to mobilize resources from my Uncle and relatives. Then the support of Chhukha Dzongkhag to provide equipment for my business was a crucial intervention which lead me to establish my business successfully.

I also got supported from Department of Cottage & Small Industries.

My parents and my Uncle have always supported me in whatever I did and I owe to them as well for being able to stand on my own feet right now with this small business of mine.

The Covid-19 lockdown have really impacted by business and now I hope to work harder.

In future, I wish to expand to Gedu town with proper haircutting and saloon place.
